Very simply, Strictly Average is a cooperative effort of two average bros, Dylan and Jeremy. We are both software engineers who met in school, and have been grinding the local meta of Standard and Modern Magic events.
As of 2018, this family grew to include the assistance of Joe, who has taken over as full-time content manager for Jeremy in order to grow the content base of the website and continue the vision of Strictly Average Gaming.
At Strictly Average we feel that in order to be the best possible player you need to practice as much as possible and take in as much information as you can. We cannot practice for you, but we can attempt to give you an edge by helping you absorb more information. We encourage every aspiring competitive Magic player to ‘go wide’ and absorb as much information as possible. That means, listen to podcasts, watch other people stream, read articles, and get as much exposure as you possibly can. Those who get the most out of this method will be those who can take it all in, filter out what is useless to them, and apply just the important details.
Here at Strictly Average, we pride ourselves in being smart Magic players, who tend to consume an exorbitant amount of information on the game. Instead of listening to Pros talk about all the big events they are playing, here we will filter and pass back along the important things we have read or heard recently, and how we applied it to our own game/decks. We will give you yet another avenue to pick up a few pointers or learn about interactions you may have missed. At the end of the day, you will need to decide what is best for you, and hopefully hearing how things worked for us, can shed some light on something new for you.
